Where it begins — Our materials journey

A materials story

Conceptual charcoal-and-sepia illustration of a cotton boll with a loose curving line on ivory paper.
Conceptual illustration — not a depiction of Motus Gratis sourcing or products.

For the moments that become family stories, there is another story worth understanding: the journey behind the clothing we wear.

At Motus Gratis, family, time together and presence remain at the heart of what we do. Our materials journey belongs alongside that story.

The future we want to help build

Our aim is to contribute to a future in which cotton farmers working toward organic production receive meaningful support.

Progress matters to us. So does being clear about the steps we take. As this work develops, we will share documented actions and explain what they establish.

This page introduces that ambition. It does not announce an active farmer-support programme or a contribution attached to a purchase.

Understanding the transition

Cotton in conversion, also called transitional cotton, describes an interim stage as farms move toward organic production. It is distinct from fully organic cotton.

Cotton growing, fabric production and garment manufacturing are separate stages. Where a garment is made does not, by itself, establish where its cotton was grown.

Follow the journey

If this ambition matters to you, follow the journey with us. We welcome questions and will share the steps we can document as they develop.
